  1. Hi Matt, Your ICT projects for year 7, 8 and 9 are fab and i will use them with my classes. What I wanted to know was have you got any resources that will help me teach how to create an app to year 9 or any links to resources that will help me?
I have a really good unit of work for year 8 ‘graphics & web design’ which i will send via email as this unit might come in handy for you. if you send me your email address i will forward it on to you. Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi Kathy,

I don’t I am afraid. Will work on some for next year. For year 7 we are learning about mobile tech and app design rather than the creation of Apps. Any resources I produce I will share on here, if I come across more I will send them your way. Do you intend to create an App with your year 9’s? App Inventor ( may be worth a look although I always struggle with that.

Would love to see you year 8 unit of work. I plan to teach HTML/CSS to year 8’s myself. Its not in the booklet but I will probably use Codecademy.

I will send over my email when I get a chance. Thank you. 🙂

  2. This design is steller! You definitely know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved
to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job.
I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
    Too cool!

  3. Hi Matt, like the SoW, fairly similar to mine in terms of ICT/Computing mix – Good to see lots of schools with a good mix of the two – despite what people higher up think actually goes on!! refreshing my SoW now and have used some of your ideas for amendments! One thing though do you pay to use edublog? we use wordpress multiuser which students log on to using existing school network logon/password which is free….might be alternative option for you to consider.

    1. Hi Corinne, I am glad you like mr SoW. It is certainly important, in my opinion, to have a balance in terms of ICT and Computing. A lot of people who disagree with us, tend not to be teachers.;-)

It’s great to see you are using some of these ideas. I should say that in year 8, I am no longer teaching Kodu. Instead, I am using CodeAvengers to teach HTML5 and CSS3. It has been great.

I am not paying for Edublogs, so I have the basic package. To be honest, it was not my 1st choice. I intended to use WordPress, but for some reason when I had 30 students all trying to set up accounts, it went pear shaped. WordPress multiuser sounds great. I will certainly look into this.

Thanks for your comment and I would love to see you SoW when it is complete. I will certainly share my new updated version. 🙂

      1. True about it not being teachers with thoughts about the ICT/computing curriuculums that should be happening!!
Certainly will share sow. will get my ICT support to with details of setting up WordPress multiuser – spoke to him today about it and all students in school are set up ready to use it. It was quite easy to do. Will look into codeavengers as well – only got into Kodu this year and loved it – doing schools showcase at west of England ICT conference next week with some students. Don’t think my team would be too happy learning something else new when just got a handle on Kodu!!
